A few weeks ago I sent out a message to my contacts asking you all to like my daughter's World Teacher's Day post on Facebook. She had done a special tribute to her favourite teachers Mrs. Nyamushamba and Mr. Gomori on the TUDiki page.
Today we are honoured to have Elton Gomori, our guest writer, as he shares his views on
his dual role as a Parent and an Educator. Most times, we feel proper education can only be found in schools and there is no learning done at home. A definition of education offered by Wikipedia states:
Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion and directed research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators, however learners can also educate themselves. Education can take place in formal or informal settings and any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts, may be considered educational.
This article goes on to shed light on some of the ways in which education is imparted and most importantly, the outcomes and impact they may have on the children. Our guest writer is not only an Educator at Happy Primary School and Irene Christian College but he is also a Pastor, an Award-Winning Writer, Author, Columnist, Championship Debator and Public Speaker and Master of Ceremonies. Elton Gomori is currently studying for a BSc Honours Degree in Psychology, whilst simultaneously, undertaking a course in Programmes and Projects Monitoring and Evaluation. He is passionate about education, spiritual wellness, greatness and leadership. As such we can expect his views to be well-rounded, wholesome and inspirational.
